The grade II listed Drill hall which was completed in 1901 was the headquarters for the 3rd Monmouthshire Rifle Volunteer Corps. The hall was decommissioned in the 1960s and has been used as a religious building until a fire severely damaged it in March 2018.
The property which is located on the corner of Lower Dock St and Caroline St, close to Newport city centre, is now ripe for redevelopment. The current owners have drawn up a scheme which has had pre-planning approval from Newport City Council and Cadw. The scheme allows for the main drill hall to be retained whilst the three storey part of the property would incorporate 8 no. self-contained apartments. Should buyers not wish to retain the drill hall, there may be potential to create further residential dwellings (subject to any necessary planning and listed building consents).
The property has suffered extensive fire damage but comprises:
Ground Floor: Entrance foyer, a series of offices and rooms, former drill hall
First Floor: Rooms accessed via a stone spiral staircase
Second Floor: Rooms accessed via the stone spiral stairs
Third Floor: Rooms
To be sold with vacant possession

* Generally speaking Guide Prices are provided as an indication of each seller's minimum expectation, i.e. 'The Reserve'. They are not necessarily figures which a property will sell for and may change at any time prior to the auction. Virtually every property will be offered subject to a Reserve (a figure below which the Auctioneer cannot sell the property during the auction) which we expect will be set within the Guide Range or no more than 10% above a single figure Guide.

By setting a proxy bid, the system will automatically bid on your behalf to maintain your position as the highest bidder, up to your proxy bid amount. If you are outbid, you will be notified via email so you can opt to increase your bid if you so choose.
If two of more users place identical bids, the bid that was placed first takes precedence, and this includes proxy bids.
Another bidder placed an automatic proxy bid greater or equal to the bid you have just placed. You will need to bid again to stand a chance of winning.
